Marjorie Taylor Greene
In today’s post I want to do a quick review of a fairly controversial figure in American politics, Marjorie Taylor Greene. Marjorie currently represents multiple districts in Georgia, and her history of pushing conspiracy theories and her behavior in the house of representatives has drawn criticism from both sides of the political spectrum. Her biggest year in politics so far was 2025, coinciding with the return of the Trump administration. Throughout her political career Marjorie has been a verdant Trump supporter and MAGA enthusiast, which makes her recent actions even more confusing. A few months ago, Marjorie rebelled against her party leaders by demanding an uncensored release of the Epstein files, something that the GOP is currently suppressing. Trump reacted to her demands by labelling her as a “traitor” and a “lunatic”, effectively excommunicating her from the MAGA movement. Coincidentally, Marjorie has recently announced that she will not be running for reelection although there are rumors she’ll be running for governor in 2026.
Marjorie is a very clear example of what happens when you overcommit to partisanship. She bet her entire political career on being an outspoken opponent of democrats on nearly every political issue, and now that her own party has dropped her neither party wants anything to do with her. Her fiery attitude and speeches may have won her the election to become a representative of Georgia, her refusal to bow down to party demands seems to have ultimately sunk her career. Her career is interesting to me because on one side she’s spread a lot of hate and misinformation throughout her career, and yet the reason she lost everything was because she wouldn’t compromise her morals on one issue. As always, stay safe and let me know if you have any interesting stories worth writing about!
